At b.well Connected Health, we believe that giving back to the communities where we live and work is not just a responsibility, but a privilege. With about 130 employees spread across 29 states, we recognize the unique opportunity we have to make a meaningful impact in diverse localities. Our dedication to driving positive change in healthcare naturally extends to our communities, where we strive to set a standard for corporate responsibility and social impact. Recently, our teams in Baltimore, Maryland, Charleston, South Carolina, and Austin, Texas, came together to participate in volunteer events that underscore our commitment to community engagement, support, and living our core values.
Why Volunteer Day is in Our Culture
Building Stronger Communities
By volunteering, we help strengthen the fabric of our local communities. Whether it’s through cleaning up a halfway house, helping to build homes for underserved communities, or sponsoring low income families during the holiday season, our efforts contribute to the overall well-being and development of the areas we serve.
Fostering Employee Engagement
Volunteer events provide our employees with the chance to connect with one another outside the office, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. These experiences help build stronger relationships and improve morale, which translates into a more positive, connected, and productive work environment.
Championing Social Impact Beyond Healthcare
Driving change is at the heart of our corporate identity. The team’s passion for making a difference extends beyond healthcare work to community service. By actively engaging in volunteerism, a standard is set for corporate responsibility, demonstrating that businesses can and should play a vital role in creating positive social impact. Commitment to community involvement reflects a dedication to driving change and inspires others to join in making a meaningful difference.
Personal Growth and Fulfillment
Volunteering offers our employees the chance to develop new skills, gain different perspectives, and experience personal growth. Many find great satisfaction and a sense of purpose through giving back, which can be both personally and professionally rewarding.
2024 Volunteer Day Recap
Baltimore Team
Our Baltimore team spent the day landscaping and cleaning the exterior and grounds of a behavioral health home through our collaboration with Volunteers of America (Chesapeake & Carolinas Chapter). This home supports individuals transitioning back into society, offering a safe haven for those recovering from homelessness, mental health challenges, addiction, and other life-altering events.
“Sprucing up the grounds of a residential facility in a Baltimore neighborhood helps the local community by supplementing the efforts of staff and residents to show that they are part of the fabric of our city. This helps the neighbors to welcome them instead of being wary or fearful of outsiders. Using tools from the Baltimore Community ToolBank reduces costs, helps volunteers get more done, and makes efficient use of available resources. As a resident of Baltimore City, I was proud to participate in this volunteer activity and give back to my home community.” – Barbara Harper, GRC Specialist II
Charleston Team
Our Charleston team joined forces with Habitat for Humanity to construct a new home for a single mother and her children. Through our collective effort, we are helping to provide a stable and nurturing environment for a family in need.
“Volunteering is an extension of b.well’s principles and mission to help others. The fact that we have opportunities to work outside of our day-to-day is an extension of our culture and provides extra satisfaction by making a difference to others in need.” – Logan Edwards, Sr. Director of Software Engineering
Austin Team
Our Austin team partnered with Community First Village, which offers housing and a supportive community to nearly 500 individuals who were formerly homeless. Our team contributed by cleaning residences and building furniture, enhancing the quality of life for the residents and fostering a sense of belonging.
“I’ve heard it said that the surest path to feeling better about the world is to take action to help someone else. That’s exactly what my time at Mobile Loaves and Fishes did for me. We helped with some basic things; cleaning & prepping a home and furniture for a new neighbor (they aren’t homeless when they move in), clearing brush, and cleaning the ‘Austin Pollen’ off some of the homes. Even more impactful than the work we did was seeing how much the community cares. Our volunteer guide, Charles, has been a full time employee for 10+ years and told us stories about several neighbors that tugged heart strings. I want to go back with my own family so they can experience helping and see that there ARE good things happening in the world!” – RB Brown, Director of Delivery
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, b.well remains committed to expanding our volunteer initiatives and finding new ways to support our communities. We encourage all of our employees to get involved and make a difference, knowing that their efforts, no matter how small, contribute to a greater good.
Volunteerism is not just an act of kindness and generosity; it’s a cornerstone of who we are as a company. We are proud of the impact we’ve made so far and excited about the opportunities ahead to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others. By working together and living our values, we can create a brighter, more connected, and more compassionate world.
Let’s keep the spirit of giving alive and continue to make meaningful contributions to our communities, one volunteer event at a time. If you would like to be a part of our culture here at b.well, check out our open positions.
